Trails Meeting
October
21, 2002
Guilford
Community Center
Chair: Fred Richards Paul Proulx arranged for Fred to chair this
meeting in his absence.
Attendance: Fred Richards, Sandy Porter, David Middleton, Lucy
Cross, Dia Robinson, Susan  Kuckle,
David Hamilton, Reid Ogren, Matt Richerson, Mary Richerson, Audrey Teofilo
Corrections to Sept 16 minutes: None, minutes approved.
Resignations/New Members/Members news: Peter Otis has resigned,
Karen Klugman is taking a leave
of absence. Sandra Porter will be taking on the secretarial duties that
Karen was   responsible
for. Mary, George, and Matt Richerson are new members.
GLTC Report: Susan Kukle

Dues for GLTC membership have gone up

There are fundraising projects being planned

Jesse Hotchkiss a High School Student with the help of some board members
is compiling a list
of all GLTC landholdings and stewards.

There was a work party on October 19th clearing the path near the Yacht
Club. N Eagle  Scout
Tom Pazicki (sp?) is creating a sign.
- e.
A gate across the entrance to the Mulberry Farms Rd property has been
taken down and  GLCT
has put a new sign.
- f.
GLCT is interested in submissions of photos or drawings of Land Trust
properties for a new flyer
that is being put together.
Trail Reports: Fred reminded us that all Trail Reports go to the
Forest and Park Association and an annual
report is made up of all submissions. It was suggested that reports be
detailed regarding the
number (names) of people in attendance, the hours of work completed, and
the type of work that
was done.
Westwoods: Westwoods Tree Removal: From Sam Hill Rd. to the powerlines
there are finishing  touches
only needed on the White Circle and the Orange Circle. Paul reported 14
hours work  felling
and clearing 33 trees on the White Circle trail north of Lost Lake, south
of the power lines. Peter
Johnson wanted to thank Ty Streeter for his help tree cutting.
Team
C - Susan Kukle, Mary Richerson and Elizabeth Evarts worked on the Red
rectangle for 5 hours
on September 19th and 4 1/2 hours on October 3rd. All clipping and painting
completed.
Paul Trail: On 10/16 Dia and two helpers each worked 4 hours at
general clearing. They will go  back
and reblaze the trail and clear two trees that fell 10/20. It was also
reported that Peter  Johnson
dismantled a make shift bar at the end of the trail.
Kampmeyer: Joe Kaufman reports that there are a number of hemlocks
down and that many are large,
he would like some help. Joe has taken down some sort of blinds that were
erected on  either
side of the trail near Janeway. He also stated that there is some bridgework
needed, but that
he can handle that.
Eastwoods: No report
Hoadly Creek: Susan said it looks good
Spencer Creek: No Report
Work Parties: Nut Plains: Bob Handschumacher, Sandy Porter, Paul
Proulx, Fred Richards,  George,
Mary, and Matt Richerson, Dia Robinson, and Reid Ogren worked a total
of 20 hours  clearing
and blazing the white circle trail which runs around the perimeter. There
is a short  distance
that needs to be completed. The letters on the sign at the trail entrance
were also  painted.
There was a reminder that a work party is needed on Cable Rock for glass
clean-up.
Old Business: Someone has been cutting on the White Cirlce just
south of Lost Lake and not  including
the work hours in a report. Please include hours and numbers of trees
downed.
New Business:
- Forest
and Park Association Meeting: there was an announcement that anyone wanting
to  attend
the annual meeting from WWTC would need to act quickly as the event was
scheduled for November
1, 2002. David Middleton spoke briefly about his attendance in recent
years and  mentioned
that the food was good, the speakers and the slides were interesting.
- Dave
Middleton asked about paint for the Nature Trail location markers. He
will be getting the new
trail guide for locations and Bob will be contacted for paint info.
- GLTC
Autumn Walks: October 12th with Bill Yule was rained out. Dia Robinson
led a group of 6 people
on the Paul Trail on October 20th.
- Next
GLTC walk will be on the Matabessett Trail on November 16th at 10am. Raindate
  November
17th at 1:00pm. Meet at Bluff Head parking lot Rt 77.
- On
Dec 7th at 10am meet at Bluff Head parking lot for a walk past the Myer
Huber Pond, up the north
shoulder of Bluff Head and along a stream, eventually connecting to the
Blue Trail baack to the
parking lot.
- Mr.
Piscatelli (retired Adams science teacher) is interested in putting together
educational hikes with
kids east of Broomstick Ledges. Susan Kukle will be staying in touch with
him.
- Announcement
that Internationally known Ornothologist David Sibley, will be at Guilford
Library on
Thursday evening October 24th at 7:30pm.
