Westwoods Trails Meeting

Approval/corrections of minutes:
Minutes for March 15, 2004 were approved without corrections.

Resignations/New Members/Members news:
No resignations. Maryanne Hall attended her first meeting.

GLTC Report:
No report

Trail Reports

Westwoods: See work parties.
Nut Plains: There will be a walk here in three weeks and the trail needs bridges and blazing
Paul Trail: Paul Proulx walked in preparation for the upcoming Walk. Not much was needed. He thought that perhaps a plank walk could be installed on the section of the trail near Colony Road.Others suggested that it could be a good project for interested scouts.
Kampmeyer:
No Report
Eastwoods: No report
Hoadly Creek: No report
Spencer Creek: No report.

Past Work Parties:
-
The Nut Plains work party did not have much of a turn-out, only Paul and Kevin. They cleaned up, but the weather wasn't good for blazing.
-(12 hours) Kevin S., Peter J.,George G., Ellsworth M. completed cutting dead hemlocks on the yellow circle (79 trees since last report)

Future Work Parties:

-Saturday April 18, 2004 10 am. Meet at Three Corner Road to work on the Red triangle.
-Saturday May 1, 2004 1:00pm . Meet at Sam Hill to re-route a small section of the yellow triangle.

Old Business:

-Kevin's presentation is postponed until May

New Business:
-Handouts of the GLCT Spring Walks are available. They are also posted on the website www.westwoodstrail.org
-CT Forest & Park Trail Days are on June 5&6 this year Paul will be leading a walk in Westwoods.
-Fred went to a Trail Maintenance Training Seminar on April 1st. He reported that it was a useful presentation, about blazing, construction and maintenance
-A similar presentation will take place on April 24th in Durham. Bill Johnson has detailed information about when and where.
-On April 29th Paul will attend a reception sponsored by the Ct Forest and Park Association for the 75th Anniversary of the CT Blue Trails System
-Kevin will host the end of the year pot luck on June 21. It is proposed for Chaffinch Island Park , or at his house on Chaffinch Island Rd if weather is unfavorable.
