GLCT Report: None
Trail Reports:
- Paul
reports cutting on white circle trail is progressing. 25 trees were cut
on northern part. During
the summer months, the south part will be focused upon. David Scarpace
cannot help Paul
because of other responsibilities.
- Large
tree on green rectangle was taken down by Peter Johnson. Green rectangle
is now 100% cleared.
Paul knows a Boy Scout who might be willing to clean up the debris left
on green rectangle
trail.
- Red
tape was left on the yellow triangle trail. Allegedly by some bike shop.
Paul will ask Clinton Bike
Shop is they know anything about this.
- Nature
Trail is in need of blazing.
Eastwoods: Sally Richards reports she discovered a path connecting
East Bearhouse Hill Rd to Nut Plains.
However, the path crosses Goss property. She recommends GLCT write Goss
a letter. Sally
says George Goss wishes to clear up vernal pool situation before any paths
are formalized on
Goss property. Work Parties: Nothing official during the two summer months
vacation.
Old Business:
- Status
of Trail Re-Opening - Paul discussed overall trail plan and distributed
a color-coded map. The
colors marked on the map in blue have already been opened. All the green
colors on the map
have just recently been opened (ie: Nature Trail). The next target over
the summer months will
be the white rectangle and white circle. These trails will be open next.
Orange circle (south of power
lines) will be the next in line. Sally Richards recommended that the red
square and red diamond
be planned next. The committee agreed and added them to the overall plan.
A path from Three
Mile Course entrance to blue circle, by the way of red diamond and red
square, will be planned.
New Business:
- Karen
Klugman stressed the importance of recruiting new members. She recommended
the committee
pass out pamphlets at the Guilford Day parade in September.
- The
idea of posting the status of the trail clearing onto some website was
discussed. Paul will ask
Bill Johnson if anything exist today.
- Nature
Trail needs to be blazed.
- A
clean-up day should be planned for Nut Plains sometime in the fall time.
Bob Handschumacher
and Susan Kukle cleaned up a little and placed sign at entrance.
Next Meeting: Sept 16 is next meeting. Guilford Parade Day is Sept
21, 9:00 am Saturday!
