Trail Reports
Westwoods:
- Paul has used his GPS unit and walked all the major north-south and east-west trails of Westwoods, for a total of 23.49 miles.
- George reported that on the Orange circle south of the Green rectangle has a few standing dead hemlocks. Paul commented that the standing dead hemlocks that are now being cut are at times a bit more challenging to fell due to the fact that they have been rotting longer.
Nutplains: Entrance cleaned up
Paul Trail:
- Perhaps a sign is needed at the entrance. There was some discussion about the fact that the entrance is along the driveway to the Water Company tower. There was not a decision made about posting a sign. The trail is an inset on the Westwoods Trails Map.
Kampmeyer: No Report
East Woods:
- George Goss reported that the red square and the green square are fine. He suggests that the green square could be re-routed a bit to lengthen it and take it away from the power lines. He has taped it and has asked that anyone interested can walk it by starting at East Bearhouse Lane.
Spencer Creek:
- Katie asked for a group burn on Saturday Feb 23rd from 10:00 to 4:00. It has been rescheduled to Saturday April 5th. It will be rescheduled if its too windy. There will be refreshments for helpers.
Hoadly Creek: No Report
New Business:
- Loop #5 will include the Blue Circle and the Green Circle
Work Parties: Paul Proulx reported the following
- Loop #4 is finished. It starts at Three Corners Rd, to the Lost Lake lookout, up the White Circle to just below the powerline, back down the White Square to the Red Diamond.
Future Work Parties:
- Paul is interested in a way to connect the red diamond to Medad Tavern and Spencer Creek.
The Sunday morning work party is currently meeting at Three Corners Rd at 10am on Sundays.
Old Business:
- The trail going through Peddlers Park has been Re-routed and blazed. There is a need to pick up some trash along the trail, but it should probably wait until the ground is not frozen.
- Internet work: Mary Richerson is glad to take email addresses for anyone interested in meeting with Matt and Kevin to upgrade the site.
- The plexi-glas is broken on the kioske at Peddlers. Mitch will look into getting it fixed.
